General Questions
Do you come to me?
Yes — that is the whole idea. TN Mobile Locksmith is a fully mobile service. Our van carries the tools, key blanks and programming equipment to handle most jobs wherever you are: home, business, parking lot or roadside.
What areas do you serve?
We serve Knoxville and 29 surrounding East Tennessee communities across Knox, Blount, Sevier, Loudon, Anderson, Roane and Jefferson counties. See the Service Areas page for the full list.
How quickly can you get here?
Arrival time depends on where you are and the time of day. When you call, we give you an honest time estimate before dispatching — no guessing.
Will I know the price before you start?
Yes. We quote the job over the phone based on what you describe, and confirm it on-site before any work begins. If something unexpected turns up, we talk to you first.
Do you need proof of ownership?
Yes. For car keys, lockouts and home entry we ask for a photo ID and proof of ownership or residence. It is a quick step that protects you and your property.
What is the difference between rekeying and replacing a lock?
Rekeying changes the pins inside your existing lock so old keys no longer work. Replacing installs new hardware. Rekeying is usually quicker and more economical; replacing makes sense for worn locks, upgrades or smart locks.
Can you program key fobs and push-to-start keys?
Yes. We program transponder keys, remote head keys and proximity fobs for a wide range of vehicles on-site.
Do you work with businesses and property managers?
Yes. We handle commercial rekeys, master key systems, access control, exit devices and unit turnovers, and can schedule around your business hours.
What payment methods do you accept?
Please ask when you call — we will confirm accepted payment methods along with your quote so there are no surprises at the end of the job.
Can you help if my key broke off in the lock?
Yes. We extract broken keys from door locks and ignitions and can cut a replacement key on the spot.
Automotive Locksmith
Can you make a car key if I lost all of my keys?
Yes. With proof of ownership we can generate a key from your vehicle’s VIN or by decoding the lock, then program it to the car on-site. You do not need the original key.
Is a locksmith cheaper than the dealership for a key fob?
In many cases, yes — and you also avoid the tow and the wait. Call with your year, make and model and we will quote the exact fob or key before we head your way.
Will unlocking my car damage it?
No. We use purpose-made automotive entry tools designed to open vehicles without scratching paint, bending frames or triggering airbags.
What do I need to show for a car key replacement?
A photo ID plus the vehicle registration or title. This protects you and every other driver in East Tennessee.
Can you program a key fob I bought online?
Often, yes. Some aftermarket fobs are low quality or locked to another vehicle, so we will check the part before programming and tell you honestly if it will work.
Residential Locksmith
Should I rekey or replace my locks?
If your locks work smoothly and you like their look, rekeying is the faster, more economical choice — it changes the internal pins so old keys stop working. Replace when the hardware is worn, damaged or you want a higher security grade or a smart lock.
Can you make all my doors use one key?
Usually, yes. If your locks share a compatible keyway we can rekey them to a single key. If not, we can recommend matching hardware so one key opens everything.
Do you install smart locks I already bought?
Yes. We install customer-supplied smart locks, adjust the door so the bolt throws smoothly, and help you set up codes and the app.
What do you need to open my house during a lockout?
A photo ID showing the address, or other reasonable proof that you live there. It is a simple step that protects your home.
Do you work on rental cabins and vacation homes?
Absolutely. We rekey between guests, install keypad locks for self check-in, and handle lockouts for owners and property managers.
Commercial Locksmith
What is a master key system?
It is a lock plan where each door has its own key, while higher-level keys open groups of doors or the whole building. Staff get access only to what they need, and managers carry a single key.
An employee left with a key. What should I do?
Rekey the affected locks as soon as possible. If this happens often, consider restricted keys or keypad access so a lost key never becomes a security problem again.
Can you work outside business hours?
Yes. We regularly schedule commercial installs early, late or on weekends so your doors are never out of service while customers are present.
Do you install panic bars and door closers?
Yes. We install and adjust exit devices and closers so doors latch reliably and swing correctly — important for both security and safety codes.
Do you service property management companies?
We do. Unit turnovers, common-area access, mailbox locks and master key systems for apartment communities and managed properties.
